June 5, 2007 - World Environment Day was celebrated across the world today.

In Norway, which is hosting the international celebrations, former Sophie Prize winners, including Canadian Inuit activist Sheila Watt-Cloutier and Nobel Peace Prize winner Wangari Maathai, joined UNEP Executive Director Achim Steiner in a panel discussion on the environment and sustainable development. Later in the day, children from across Norway took to the streets in an Environment Parade to help raise awareness on the environment and climate change. May 30, 2007 - Partnerships from Five Nations Receive "2007 Seed Awards" for Innovation in Local Sustainable Development

Seed Awards recognize, support and encourage the delivery of innovative, local, partnership-based solutions to global challenges of environmental stewardship and poverty eradication. The global community of organizations and agencies that constitute the Supporting Entrepreneurs for Environment and Development (Seed) Initiative today announced that partnerships from Vietnam, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil and Sierra Leone are the winners of the 2007 Seed Awards. April 19, 2007 - The African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the 2007-2008 Charlotte Conservation Fellows scholarship program.

Under the Charlotte Conservation Fellowship Program, AWF is offering scholarships for full MSc or partial Ph.D. programs with field research components that produce knowledge or insight into specific conservation challenges in the African Heartlands or Conservation in general. This year, citizens of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Mozambique and Botswana are eligible to apply.
