 Our Purpose
Circle the Earth - Grassroots Women Taking Action for a Sustainable FutureTM aims to:
• Connect women with each other who are working on grassroots environmental issues within their communities
• Facilitate partnerships that promote environmentally sustainable development at the grassroots level
• Advance the cause of sustainability through our education, outreach, advocacy and the arts
Our Goals
1) Identify areas of collaborations and facilitate networking opportunities for grassroots women and their communities.
2) Assess the needs of grassroots women and their communities as they define them.
3) Identify opportunities where grassroots women and their communities can form strategic alliances.
4) Educate the larger public on women's unique relationships and contributions to environmental sustainability and show how their work intersects with the goals of achieving social justice and peace.
5) Organize and partner on providing entry points and training for grassroots women and their communities in sustainable development policy, ecological sustainability at the community
level and appropriate technologies implementation.
6) Participate in key international policy meetings and conferences.
7) Explore and create media and arts based partnerships utilizing new media tools and traditional and experimental arts to showcase grassroots women and educate a larger audience about their work.
Our Strategies
• Amplify women’s roles, expertise and participation in ecological community development and implementation at the community level
• Provide ecological sustainability training
• Survey needs and assessments based on gender and cultural sensitivity
• Utilize arts, education and ecological components in our work
